DTB in Amagansett
I attended this intimate show and thought id share my experience.
At the time i had a 1974 green VW camper bus which I drove solo out to Amagansett, Long Island which is between East Hampton and Montauk, from my house about 50 miles from there. I had with me my friend's Sony D-8 DAT recorder. I got there early and the Band's sound tech hooked me up. He patched my DAT into the digital soundboard right next to his. then he told me to enjoy the show and come back at the end. and after an amazing show he provided me with the setlist right off the soundboard which had cool artwork on it and a mystery slot for the encore. then Derek and Kofi took some time to talk with me and some of the other 40 or so people in attendance (the rest of the band was hangin too). the Stephen's Talkhouse is a tiny bar in the Hamptons, it is one of those legendary tiny venues that everyone plays. apparently the DTB drove from Florida/Georgia all the way to Long Island, NY- then Higher Ground Burlinton, VT for a show and then went home after the 2 shows. I thought that was really cool, and the show was incredible. i want to thank the sound tech for patching me in, giving me the setlist, and uploading his copy onto the archives for everyone. i have been enjoying my copy for 9 years. i also want to thank the band for hanging out. I drove my bus into the foggy Sunrise Highway that night watching Derek Trucks sign autographs on the sidewalk in my rear view mirror. the bus is long gone but that epic night will last forever
